Achberger Signs to Play in Frontier League
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - Former Carson-Newman outfielder Nick Achberger signed a professional baseball contract with the Kalamazoo Kings of the Frontier League late last week. The Anderson, South Carolina native was a first-team selection on the 2008 NCAA ABCA/Rawlings All-Region team, after batting .402 with 12 home runs and 70 RBIs for the Eagles this past season. Eagle Coaching Legend Passes Away
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman family has lost a legend. Longtime Eagle baseball coach Bobby Wilson passed away on Saturday at the age of 84 after a short bout with cancer. [+]

Eagle Baseball Adds Nine For 2009 Season
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman baseball team has signed nine players for the 2009 season, head coach Tom Griffin announced Tuesday. Shortstop Robbie Thigpen (St. Petersburg, Fla.) and former Jefferson County High School standout Nick Sherrod (Strawberry Plains, Tenn.) highlight a versatile spring class that includes five infielders and three right-handed pitchers.
