JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. — The Carson-Newman baseball team returns home for a key stretch of games beginning on Thursday. The Eagles will square off against Anderson in a single game on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex before opening their South Atlantic Conference series with Lenoir-Rhyne on Friday at 2 p.m. C-N will wrap up the four-game homestand with a doubleheader with the Bears on Saturday afternoon beginning at noon.

Eagles Split Twinbill with Augusta State
AUGUSTA, Ga. — Junior pitcher Austin Bridgewater (Morristown, Tenn.) scattered four hits and struck out 10 batters in 7 1/3 innings of work in his Eagle debut to lead Carson-Newman to an 8-0 win over Augusta State in game one on Sunday afternoon at Olmstead Stadium. The Eagles dropped the second game, 5-3.

Rogers' Grand Slam Lifts Eagles to Split at Augusta State
AUGUSTA, Ga. – Senior Mills Rogers (Simpsonville, S.C.) drilled a ninth-inning grand slam to lift the Eagles to an 11-5 win in game two, as Carson-Newman split a doubleheader on Saturday afternoon with Augusta State (Ga.) at Lake Olmstead Stadium in Augusta, Ga.. C-N lost game one to the Jaguars, 10-3. With the split, the Eagles are 1-1 on the season. The two teams will play a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 11 a.m. Game one will be a nine-inning game, with game two schedule for seven innings.

Eagles Open 2010 Baseball Season on Friday at Augusta State
JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman baseball team hopes a wealth of experience and a group of talented newcomers will lead to a third NCAA Tournament appearance in four seasons, as it begins its 2010 campaign this weekend. Carson-Newman opens its season on Friday afternoon against Augusta State University. The Eagles and Jaguars meet in for a four-game series beginning Friday at 3 p.m. Saturday’s doubleheader begins at noon, while the series finale on Sunday is set for a 1 p.m. first pitch. All four games are at Lake Olmstead Stadium in Augusta, Ga.

Three Eagles named to Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference Baseball Teams
ROCK HILL, S.C. – Three Carson-Newman Eagles have been named to the 2010 Preseason All-South Atlantic Conference Baseball Teams, league officials announced Friday. Senior first baseman Derek Long (Jefferson City, Tenn.) was a selected to the first team, while senior shortstop Mills Rogers (Simpsonville, S.C.) and junior outfielder Evan Patterson (Knoxville, Tenn.) were each named to the second team.

Carson Newman head baseball coach Tom Griffin announced the signing of four players to National Letters of Intent. Current high school seniors Evan Jurjevic, Trayce Rogers, Brandon Timmerman will join junior college transfer Lance Rorex for the 2010-2011 season.

Orange Jack O'Lanterns win fifth game of series and win overall runs scored title
Jeff Lockwood's grand slam in 6th inning helped the Orange Team to a 11-1 win in extra innings to decide the total runs scored in the series. The Blue Team had a 24-15 lead going into the 5th game, but the Orange won the overall score with a dramatic win in extra innings.
