MORROW, Ga. Senior guard Ashley Kyle (Jefferson City, Tenn.) hit three free throws with 0.4 seconds left to go in the game to give Carson-Newman (9-0) a 65-62 victory over No. 8 Clayton State (4-1) at the CSU Athletics & Fitness Center Saturday afternoon. The win is the Lady Eagles second in as many seasons over a top-10 ranked team. C-N defeated then-No. 5 Tusculum, 90-87, on Jan. 17, 2009.

Carson-Newman Remains Perfect With A 68-64 Win Over Lincoln Memorial Saturday To Open League Play
HARROGATE, Tenn. Carson-Newman (8-0, 1-0 SAC) got a double-double performance from sophomore guard Zoriah Williams (Calera, Ala.) Saturday evening as it defeated Lincoln Memorial (2-4, 0-1 SAC) in both teams South Atlantic Conference opener by a 68-62 score at Tex Turner Arena. The Lady Eagles are now off to their best start under Head Coach Dean Walsh.

Carson-Newman got 10 second-half points from reigning South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week junior guard Mandy Mendenhall (Kingston Springs, Tenn.) and needed each one of them as the Lady Eagles held on to defeat Maryville by a 71-68 score Wednesday evening at Boydson Baird Gymnasium.

BEAVERTON, Ore. Carson-Newman senior forward Shari Buford (Hampton, Ga.) has been named National Player of the Month by the Womens Division II Bulletin for the month of November. The announcement was made in the first regular season printing of the publication, which is in its 17th year covering NCAA Division II Womens Basketball. It is the first time in C-N history that a player has been named national player of the month.

Columbus, Ga. -- A furious second-half rally by Columbus State erased a 13-point deficit, but Carson-Newman was able to hold on and eke out a 68-64 win in the final game of the Hughston Thanksgiving Classic. Earlier in the day, Georgia College & State University defeated Tusculum 78-63.

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. The Carson-Newman College Womens Basketball Team (2-0) shot 53.8 percent from the floor Wednesday night and forced a school-record 41 turnovers as it defeated Augusta State University (0-1) in a 100-64 rout at Holt Fieldhouse. The Lady Eagles improved their shooting by nearly 22 percent from their first outing of the season Sunday.
